Description

Do you love to develop new products? Do you love to tackle tough problems? At Steelcase we are looking for a Product Engineering Co-op to work with our various engineering teams to help develop new products and solutions.

What You Will Be Doing:

Our rotational Co-Op program is designed to provide a broad experience for you to become a well-prepared Product Development Engineer. It begins with foundational rotation(s), so that you will have a greater understanding of the product design process and build a solid network of employees in multiple disciplines such as product validation, concept generation, manufacturing engineering, and/or lifecycle engineering. These rotation(s) can vary in length depending on your time commitment and school schedule.

After the foundational rotation(s), you will be assigned to an engineering team filled with experts in their field who can further expand your understanding of the product design process. These projects will create real value for the company, with each rotation offering increasingly challenging experiences. You will learn and apply the design thinking process and there is even the potential to earn your name on patents!You will be exposed to the entire engineering development process including:

  • Ideation
  • Concept work
  • Analysis
  • Prototyping
  • Design for Manufacturing
  • Testingand Documentation

Who You Are:

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering based degree
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and proactive learning
  • Basic proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with solid modeling (PTC Creo preferred)
  • Experience using statistical tools and concepts (e.g., EXCEL, Minitab, etc.)
  • Experience working in a team-based environment
  • Strong technical documentation and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly
