Purpose of Position

Manages the development (planning, programming, and completion) of technical projects including leading systems analysts in that development, offering and leading strategies for new program initiatives, participates in and supervises the planning and programming of new projects, maintains systems already in production, provides a customer service role for clients and customers using production systems, attends department meetings related to project development and maintenance of production systems.

Essential Functions

Computer Support and Troubleshoot of New or Existing Equipment

  • Coordinate computer and network drives access for first-time users
  • Responsible for configuration/installation of hardware and software
  • Provide solutions to end-user computer and networking problems of moderate to complex nature to ensure end-user productivity
  • Perform restorative and maintenance actions to resolve technology problems, using basic troubleshooting and technical skills
  • Research, evaluate, and provide guidance on technology requirements to ensure it meets the established standards for the institution
  • Plan, install, configure, and optimize the IT infrastructure effectively to meet the center's high-performance requirements
  • Coordinate local and remote network equipment testing
  • Select staff and providing work assignments
  • Direct the work of information technology personnel, setting priorities, and coordinating department activities
  • Evaluate and verify employee performances through performance evaluation techniques

Audio Visual/Video Conference Management

  • Ensure all academic classrooms have the required equipment and confirm that the equipment is operational prior to a scheduled presentation
  • Assist with technology issues that arise during a presentation
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment within academic teaching spaces

General Administrative

  • Assist with the planning of classroom upgrades to ensure new technology requests are aligned with technical, business, and educational requirements
  • Participate in planning of construction/renovation of teaching spaces that involve technology requirements
  • Monitor inventory and assist with equipment purchasing
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and agreements that include technical specifications and resources
  • Collaborate with facilities management on new construction and renovations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Simulator Support

  • Provide faculty and student instruction on the use of simulators, equipment, and other technology
  • Conduct tours and assists with duties within the daily operation of the simulator
  • Integrate, maintain, and operate the simulation computer and audio/video technology, including the use of digital video cameras, projectors, audio/video mixers, editing software, and graphic design software
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and provides technical support for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance, and repair of patient simulators (software and hardware) and related multimedia peripherals

Research Computer Support

  • Provide first-tier computer support to research data, escalating more complex problems to senior technical staff
  • Perform a routine backup of systems and data files; perform data restores as requested
  • Provide support to the systems utilized for research data
  • Ensure that shared network drives are fully functional and troubleshoots when needed
  • Coordinate with collaboration departments to fulfill needs for projects to be established
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of project management principles and techniques
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and coordinate design, development, and implementation of information systems for data transfer (with integrity)
  • Intermediate ability to effectively supervise and manage staff
  • Advanced analytical skills
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is required and five years of experience in systems design, analysis and programming or High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of experience

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration.
