POSITION SUMMARY:

The Part-Time Community Coordinator will provide technical expertise, program direction and overall project management tasks associated with the WestCare Texas Laredo Programs. Work will be done in coordination with the Laredo Drug Free Communities FACE (Family Assistance and Community Empowerment) Coalition.

The ideal candidate must be an insightful, detail-focused individual who can manage multiple tasks at any given time, work within a very fluid environment and be capable of shifting work priorities quickly. He/She/They must be capable of developing grant and contract reports that are well-written and submitted timely. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively internally and externally with WestCare Texas staff, partner organizations, volunteers, community members, and WestCare Foundation key personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction to the coalition in assessing community needs and developing a strategic plan for reducing drug abuse among youth and adults within the community. This includes identifying community stakeholders and partner organizations that will implement effective strategies identified in the strategic plan.
  • Work with the Community Coalition to develop measurable goals, objectives, desired outcomes and establish timelines for implementation.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with coalition members, Partner organizations and other key leaders to ensure program implementation is coordinated and supports the identified goals and objectives. Attend and participate in ongoing meetings with coalition partner organizations.
  • Provide support to partner organizations to ensure that they have adequate resources, supplies, and personnel to carry out strategies with support provided by the Drug Free Communities FACE Coalition associated funding.
  • Provide overall monitoring of implementation progress including conducting progress reviews with coalition stakeholders, partner organizations and community leaders.
  • Collect data as required by the grant programs and coordinate data assessment and reporting with WestCare evaluation staff.
  • Attend and participate in required grant trainings or community trainings as identified in the strategic plan or as indicated by community partner organizations or Senior Management.
  • Responsible for collection, compilation, and timely submission of reports to funders, Communications Contractor, and Senior Management (Sr. VP and VP).
  • Provide bi-weekly information on activities.
  • Initiate check requests timely to meet goals and objectives.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and operational understanding of non-profit business processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of challenges with underserved and disadvantaged populations.
  • Experience working with health promotion and prevention programs
  • Knowledge of program performance indicators and measures.
  • Good time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate relationships with colleagues and partner organizations
  • Effective communication, including speaking, writing and active listening
  • Analytical skills to evaluate data and provide recommendations on operational decisions
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate and create reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, WORD Software
  • General knowledge of office operations
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Able to work successfully in a high-pressure environment
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a clean driving record & valid driver license and valid vehicle liability insurance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Four (4) years of experience working in programmatic support role in a non-profit agency
  • Bachelor’s degree and comparable work experience at a minimum is required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Ability to qualify for WestCare vehicle insurance and possession of a valid Drivers’ License
  • CPR Certification and First AID Certification preferred

During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed primarily at an office and community facilities (i.e. school, community center)
  • Some driving of company vehicles or one’s own private vehicle; and
  • Logistical support of community events
