WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
As a Spectrum Intern, you'll be essential to two teams - your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You'll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on June 1, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.
Internship responsibilities may include

- Charter's Technical Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to support the Technical Accounting team in project-based work such as:
- Implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including past pronouncements such as ASC 842 Leases, ASC 326 Financial Instruments - Credit Losses, and ASC 606 Revenue
- Supporting and interacting with various departments throughout the Company, including Corporate Accounting, Tax, and Internal Audit
- Reviewing significant and complex contracts and accounting arrangements for the appropriate accounting and presentation of conclusions to key company personnel
- Accounting system configuration and implementation, data validation, and integrations
- Designing and implementing controls and processes under Sarbanes-Oxley
- Testing account balances and transactions for accurate and complete accounting results, including preparing sample designs, error extrapolations, and materiality considerations, as well as documenting related conclusions
- Preparing whitepapers and memorandums for significant accounting transactions, including new debt issuances and investments
- Assisting the Financial Reporting Department in preparing and reviewing materials and footnotes for quarterly SEC filings
